Empowerment of St. Martin’s Community College Team
The team along with Director Fr. Sebastian Panachikkal made exposure visits to the Government Orange and Vegetable Farms at Nelliampathy; the Codyssia international exhibition on modern agricultural techniques; the international exhibition on food processing at Angamaly; and the state-level bamboo exhibition in Trichur. All these visits helped our team in designing plans for the developmental activities of the farm units.
Government-assisted programmes implemented at the Community College
Various government-assisted agriculture schemes were carried out at St. Martin’s Community College. This was made available through different agencies like the Department of Agriculture, State Horticulture Mission, and the Dairy Department. The elected representatives of the Block Panchayath of Peermade and Peruvanthanam Panchayath took special initiative in conducting such programmes at the College.
Eden Valley Community Rain-Guard Project
Sanction was accorded by the State Horticulture Mission to implement a community irrigation programme in our territory. The work was completed at the end of February 2014 at an estimated cost of Rs 3. 50 lakh. We received Rs 1. 50 lakh as assistance from the State Horticulture Mission. Farmers’ Resource Centre & Guest House
People from different social departments visited the centre this year. Some of the visitors were trainees in different fields of social work. Besides them, delegates from the agricultural department of the state government also visited the centre. A spacious conference hall and a salubrious atmosphere and convenient rooms are attractive features of this guest house. Resource personnel for different training programmes enjoyed a peaceful stay at our resource centre.
